For historical re-enactors gathered together to participate in the second "Raids on the Talbot Settlement" event a unique opportunity presented itself.  British and American soldiers, Native Allies, and Canadian Militia forces contested ownership of a heavily wooded valley in a tactical scenario that would come to be known as "Into the Valley of the Shadow..."  A series of carefully prepared defensive log works were set in-depth throughout the length and breadth of the valley. These fieldworks proved to be a challenge to the attacking force each day of the campaign.  (May 28-29, 2005)

"Raids on the Talbot Settlement."

Held on site at the historical Backus-Page House in Tyrconnell, Ontario, "The Raids on the Talbot Settlement 2005" provided area residents with an opportunity to step back in time.  A War of 1812 battle scenario depicted an American raiding party that had crossed Lake Erie determined to wreak havoc throughout the settlement.  One objective of the raid was to secure the capture of Colonel Thomas Talbot (founding father of much of what is now known as southwestern Ontario).
